Alien Avenger (Free) by Krazymotion Animation is an arcade game that has you defending Earth by climbing into a giant mechanical beast. You must use your walking vehicle to collect weapons and ammo so that you can shoot down the enemy spaceships.

The path you follow will always be a road in some famous city, such as San Francisco, Paris or Cairo. Enemy fighters will constantly rush down to fire upon you from the front. You start off with 600 health, which seems like a lot, but you'll need it make it through the level.

The first level you have access to is London and it can be played for free. The other seven levels will have to be purchased in the form of three level packs. They cost $0.99 each and buying just one of them will remove all the ads.

You start off with having neither weapons nor ammo, but they will quickly become available as you start walking along. Your first weapon is a simple machine gun and can be used for free. There are two additional weapons; lasers and missiles, found later in the level. However, to use them you will have to make an in-app purchase of $1.99.

Control is done by tilting left and right to move from one side of the road to the other. Aiming is done automatically so you never have to worry about missing unless you let enemy ships get too close. If you do, it won't be possible to lock on to them and you will take more damage.

The game advises you to stay out of the middle of the road to avoid taking too much damage. However, the middle of the road periodically has arrows that will greatly increase your running speed for a short time if you walk over them.

Alien Avengers is a good idea for a game; it plays well and is a lot of fun. It's unfortunate the developers felt the shameless need to try and squeeze so much money out of its players. I understand the need to sell an app, but having full access to this game would cost $4.96.

The free ammo is not enough to last for even one level, so the message seems to be "pay an exorbitant amount or don't bother downloading the app."

I agree with the second part of that sentiment, at least, which is a pity.
