BBC iPlayer's UK App Now Supports iPhone And Allows Streaming Over 3G

December 13, 2011
The BBC has recently updated its UK iPlayer iPad app, making it a universal application that supports the iPhone and iPod touch, along with Apple's iPad. Furthermore, the app now supports streaming over 3G, meaning UK-based Apple fans can enjoy watching live TV through the BBC iPlayer app while connected to a 3G cellular data network. As outlined in application's release notes, features added in the latest version (1.3) of the UK iPlayer app include:
  • BBC iPlayer is now available on the iPhone and iPod touch.
  • Watch on your TV using Apple AirPlay on iOS5
  • Watch or listen to your favourite programme over 3G networks
Already, the international version of the BBC's iPlayer app, BBC iPlayer (Global), supports the iPhone and iPod touch. However, unlike the UK version of the app, the global version requires a subscription. If you live in the United Kingdom, take a look at the BBC iPlayer application in the App Store now. It's currently available to download and use for free.
