Apple's Upcoming iOS 5.1 Update Will Not Address iPhone 4S Audio Issues

January 5, 2012
A large number of iPhone 4S owners have complained that their handset randomly mutes audio when an outgoing call is made. Furthermore, the upcoming iOS 5.1 update for Apple's mobile operating system reportedly does not address this issue. The problem is discussed throughout a 109-page Apple Support Communities thread, in which the issue is referred to as "Audiogate." Though not all iPhone 4S owners have encountered the issue, it's clear that a significant number of iPhones are behaving in a rather odd manner. Apple hasn't released an official statement regarding the problem, and to rub even more salt in the wounds, developers testing the beta version of iOS 5.1 note that the issue still persists in the upcoming software update. Though a number of iPhone 4 users claim that a full restore has put Audiogate to an end for them, iPhone 4S owners have yet to find a working solution. Hopefully, Apple will fix the issue in a future beta version of iOS 5.1. In the meantime, let us know in the comments if you've encountered this issue personally. [via GigaOM]
