My parents have always said that I have a cranky disposition. Things irritate me a little too easily. Things like how the sound of people chewing food makes me nauseous, or how it bothers me when people don’t fold the towels “the right way.” There is a right way. You know the right way. You do it differently just to mess with those of us who insist on “the right way.” Apparently, if I don’t learn how to chill out, my heart will implode upon itself. Since this tends to be bad for a person’s health, I’m going to have to learn to let things slide more. Not the towels or the food. Other things I don’t care about as much. The iNervous app is a little quiz to see just how easily frazzled you are. I didn’t test well, and it bothers me.
The app offers a series of questions that you respond to based on how irritated that situation would make you. Standing next to people with the heavy scent of body odor emanating from them tends to leave me unnerved and irritated. Putting together a multi-thousand piece puzzle, only to find that the last piece is missing, causes me emotional distress. The quiz suggests that I take care of my nerves. I suggest that the puzzle box be changed to correctly advertise 2,999 pieces instead of 3,000.
Joking aside, I was amazed at the specific nature of the situations. There were some that truly resonated with me, and there were others that I never considered as annoyances before. Part of me wants to be a real jerk and go out of my way to do things that typically annoy people. The majority of myself is already annoyed with that smaller part of myself. So, I’ll behave for now.
The iPhone app iNervous is available in the App Store for the awesome price of FREE!
