AT&T Claims Record iPad Sales And Activations

March 19, 2012
AT&T today announced single-day record iPad sales and activations for Apple’s third generation tablet, according to CNNMoney. While no specific numbers were announced, the second largest U.S. carrier said the company saw “robust demand for the new iPad.” LTE-capable iPads went on sale last Friday, March 16. Previous, 3G-enabled iPads were also sold through AT&T. Earlier today, Apple CEO Tim Cook also said he was “very thrilled” with what he called a “record weekend” of iPad sales. This comment was made during today’s conference call where the company announced a dividend and new stock buyback program. Verizon Wireless, which also began selling 4G-enabled iPads in the U.S., hasn’t yet commented on their tablet sales last weekend.
