Gameloft has created dozens of games for iOS, from addictive social games to epic first-person shooters. On occasion, the company will launch exclusive titles for movies and other entertainment-related content, such as The Adventures of Tintin. To celebrate the upcoming release of Ice Age: Continental Drift, Gameloft has teamed up with Fox Digital Entertainment to create Ice Age Village.
“As one of the most popular and beloved animated film franchises, we know that the fourth Ice Age film comes with great anticipation,” said Gonzague de Vallois, Senior Vice President of Publishing at Gameloft. “As such, we’re absolutely thrilled to offer the official Ice Age game on smartphones and tablets. We have invested tremendously in this title and it is definitely one of our most important launches this year.”
In Ice Age Village, fans will complete quests and take part in mini-games featuring their favorite acorn hunting saber-toothed squirrel, Scrat. Of course, the journey can’t be without Sid, Manny, and Diego.
“Ice Age Village is a perfect way for fans of all ages to interact with their favorite characters, while being introduced to the incredible world of Ice Age: Continental Drift,” said Rick Phillips, SVP of Mobile for Fox Digital Entertainment. “Ice Age is one of Fox’s most important, most accessible franchises and with Blue Sky and Gameloft, we’ve created a completely immersive experience that will deliver all the fun and laughter that fans have come to expect from the Ice Age films.”
Ice Age Village will slide onto App Store virtual shelves sometime this spring. Specific compatibility and pricing have not yet been revealed.
As one of Blue Sky Studios’ marvelously animated family films, Ice Age: Continental Drift should be another exciting adventure that’s fun for all ages. In this fourth installment, arriving in theaters July 13, Scrat’s obsession causes worldwide chaos and forces Side, Manny, Diego, and the other prehistoric friends to make their possibly biggest trek home yet.
