Released earlier this month, Gravity Project had an overall positive response, however, the controls were the focus of a few very negative reviews. In a fairly prompt reaction, 099 Game Studio has released the very important v1.1 update.

After trying the game in its original state, I was one of those frustrated by a control system that was so critical but didn’t work efficiently.

The swipe controls can be a bit finicky, or maybe even a bit laggy, and making full, clean swipes appeared to cause the most consistent response. Hopefully, the devs will do a little more performance optimization. For the record, I was testing the game on an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1.

In what I would consider a respectable time frame, this issue has been very well addressed in the latest version. Playing the game on the exact same configuration I originally tested it on, the controls are significantly more responsive, making extremely time-sensitive moves much more plausible, though the initiation of actions is still slightly fussy.

While the control performance issue was the absolutely essential item to be dealt with, Gravity Project v1.1 does include other improvement tweaks:

  • Electric Panels (SECTOR 3 & 4) look better
  • Audio performance optimization ( audio compression)
  • All RedLaser SFX Triggers are in right position now
  • All RedLaser SFX can mute with SFX ON-Off BUTTON.(Options Menu)

Gravity Project is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later, and available in the App Store for $0.99.
