It’s always nice to hear of classic children’s stories coming to the App Store. While that slot is typically filled by Oceanhouse Media or FrogDog Media, today’s spotlight is on Mundomono‘s debut of Bean Bag Kids presents Pinocchio.

Bean Bag Kids present Pinocchio (iPad 2) - Interactive

Tap characters, spin windmills, find the gold stars, and all kinds of fun to have.

If you’re not familiar with the Bean Bag Kids, they “are a group of cute and cuddly virtual actors, that will make you fall in love with their plays.” Indeed, this simulated theatrical performance has similarities to omBooks and other interactive e-books, though the Bean Bag Kids series is a nice twist.

In this enjoyable retelling of the unforgettable tale of Pinocchio, the Bean Bag Kids portray Pinocchio, Mister Geppetto, Jiminy Cricket as the Little Cricket, the Fairy as the Blue Fairy, and the evil Puppeteer. The story is played out in eleven scenes, each with fun animations, sounds, narrative, and interactive capabilities.

Bean Bag Kids present Pinocchio (iPad 2) - Puzzle

In addition to the story, kids can solve jigsaw puzzles and enjoy other extras.

Children can watch and listen to the story on their own, which is accompanied by the words being underlined while spoken, or you can disable the narration to tell the tale in your own voice by tapping on the curtain rope and then tapping on the red Narrator stage light. Also available in this menu are options for automatic play, switching the language to Spanish, scene selection, and the ability to return to the main menu.

During the story, kids can touch characters to cause animations, spin windmills or clock hands, flip hanging pictures, tap to see inside the way, and perform other interactions. In addition, three gold stars are stashed throughout the set in each scene. If the child is able to acquire, just tap on them when found, 42 or more stars, it will unlock a backstage area found in the Toys section.

Bean Bag Kids present Pinocchio (iPad 2) - Night Lamp

Let your children fall asleep to the comforting light of a soothing scene.

Beyond this wonderful story of the importance of honesty, Mundomono has included a puzzle game and a soothing scene to be used as a night lamp that kids can enjoy, also accessed in the Toys section. The app includes one puzzle and one animated night lamp. Two more night lamps and an 11 item puzzle pack are available for $0.99 each via in-app purchase with automatic iCloud backup and synchronization to all of your iDevices.

Bean Bag Kids presents Pinocchio is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPad 2, third generation iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, 32GB and 64GB third generation iPod touch, fourth generation iPod touch and newer running iOS 3.2 or later, and available in the App Store for $0.99.
