Counting To 60 Has Never Been As Crazy As It Is In Number Rush

Number Rush ($0.99) by Guava7 is an iPad-only puzzle game that only requires you to be able to count forward and backward. Oh, you also have to find numbers that are randomly placed on the board, and you have to find them really fast.

The “Time Attack” mode starts with just 16 numbers that have to be found within 40 seconds. That part is easy. The next level has 25 numbers that have to be found within 65 seconds. Each level gets harder, culminating with the last level in the first section, which has you counting backward from 60 to one in only three minutes.

If that isn’t hard enough, there are three additional sections. “Moving” uses the same amount of numbers but they are always moving around on the board. “Rush” requires that each number be found within three seconds. “Crazy” combines moving numbers with a two second rule instead of three seconds. It really gets crazy in the last five levels.

In “Free Play,” players can take as much time as they like to find all of the numbers and the fastest time is recorded. Players can also play against each other in “vs.” mode. In this mode, the screen is split in two with one player on each side and the one that finds the most numbers on the board wins.

This is a fun game that gets your brain moving without making it think too much. The levels are somewhat challenging, but don’t take long to beat. I was able to complete the first 16 levels within a half hour. However, once the “Crazy” section hit, it became significantly harder to find the numbers within the two-second time limit.

If you are looking for a simple game that doesn’t take much effort, but is very engaging, this is the app for you. It keeps things interesting, but is easy to put down if the line is long at the DMV. At $0.99, you don’t get a whole lot of bang for your buck, but the game has a slow burn that makes it worth the download. See if you can get through “Crazy” without going nuts.
