Become A Valiant Knight Or A Damsel In Distress While Reading Dragon's Lair Comics

The developer of the Cut The Rope digital comic engine, which is also the publisher of a myriad iOS storybook apps based on some of the most popular movies in recent years, has tapped into another famous brand for its latest undertaking. This time, it's giving the digital comic treatment to a video game classic from nearly three decades ago. Dragon's Lair, the arcade video game created by former Disney animator Don Bluth, is such a beloved property that it has been reincarnated as an iOS game. Its sequel, Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp, has also been redesigned and rereleased in the App Store. Now, it's making the leap to the digital comic arena with the release of Dragon's Lair Comics. As indicated in the trailer below, Dragon's Lair Comics is an app that serves as a store and reader for the first ever digital editions of the original Dragon's Lair comic books. The first issue in the series is free to download within the app, whereas the other issues are available for $1.99 each via in-app purchase. Currently, the app holds issues 1 through 6 of the series. As those familiar with the source video game know, Dirk is on a quest to rescue Princess Daphne from the clutches of the evil dragon Singe. And just like the video game, the first issue is filled with "swordplay, sorcery, dragons, and damsels … plus a pinch of humor." The succeeding issues are no doubt filled with the same. Developed by zuuka incorporated, Dragon Lair Comics is available for free in the App Store. It is fully optimized for the Retina display of the iPhone 4/4S and the new iPad, thereby taking you deeper into Dirk's dragon-slaying adventure.
