When In Europe, Rent An iPad

April 23, 2012
Traveling abroad this summer, but not sure you should pack your iPad? No worries, as entrepreneurs are now making Apple’s tablet available for rental in two of Europe’s largest cities. First mentioned by AppAdvice in 2011, PadInTheCity offers visitors to Madrid, Spain the ability to rent an iPad when in town. The service, which costs €22 per day ($29), offers travelers an iPad with unlimited 3G Internet access, and nearly 30 tourist and business related apps already installed. Best of all, they’ll deliver your iPad right to your hotel, airport, or train station.

Customers can book their iPad rental by using the company’s website. A €390 ($512) hold will be placed on your credit card, which is released once the iPad is returned after your stay. PadInTheCity customers will receive a first- or second- generation iPad. Meanwhile,TravelPad Guides is offering a similar service for visitors to Athens, Greece beginning May 1. In this case, the daily charge for your iPad is €20 per day ($26) and will include unlimited on-the-go Internet usage, useful applications, and maps and travel guides. In addition, you’ll receive travel discounts during your stay. A camera connection kit (€2 per rental) and case (€3) are also available for extra fees. Your iPad is delievered to your preferred delivery point and will require a €250 ($328) credit card hold. This hold will be released once you return the iPad. TravelPad’s service includes rental to a first generation iPad.

While some may find these prices high, especially with the required credit card holds, it might be a good solution for many. Hopefully, we’ll hear about similar deals available in other cities soon. Would you consider renting an iPad on your next trip?
