Have I said that Halfbrick Studios is on a roll these days? Yeah, I think I already have. Well, let me just say it again: Halfbrick is on a roll. Want more proof? As if yesterday’s huge Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride updates weren’t enough, it turns out that Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots, the former’s cinematic spinoff, has also been significantly updated.
Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots is a collaborative effort between Halfbrick and DreamWorks, the studio behind last year’s animated “Puss in Boots.” The game takes the juicy hacking and slashing goodness of Fruit Ninja and entrusts it to the capable paws and blade of the movie’s feline title character. The result is a game that’s just as enjoyable as the original, except it’s given a bit more edge by Puss’ trademark suaveness with his sword.
Speaking of sword, the game’s latest update introduces three new blades for Puss to unlock before he can slice fruit with them. As described in the update’s release notes, they are:
Señorita Blade – Love is in the air! Flirt with danger using this romantic blade.
The Aurora – Light up the sky with this mystical blade from beyond the horizons. It’s truly a sight to behold!
Nachos Blade – Carve up fruit with this delicious and crunchy delight. The ideal recipe for slicing fruit!
In addition, a new background called Humpty’s Hideout is delivered by the update. This background features a wooden wall with a charming little drawing of Puss, Humpty, and the Golden Goose. Awww. But please, go ahead and splatter it with fruit juice.
Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots for iPhone is available in the App Store for $0.99, while Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots HD for iPad is priced at $2.99. Download either version of the game or install the update, and see how your cat reflexes fare against the game’s fruity madness.
