Full of crude and corny humor, the The Naked Gun film series spoofed serious law enforcement movies and shows through the crime-fighting antics of Lt. Frank Drebin. Even though the possibility of another sequel is no surprise to fans, I doubt anyone would have guessed that it would be today’s release of The Naked Gun: I.C.U.P.

If you couldn’t tell by the jokingly clever title, The Naked Gun: I.C.U.P. is written by Robert LoCash, a producer and screenwriter involved in the second and third films. In which case, it should also be obvious that you’ll be seeing the same type of humor.

Since Leslie Nielsen is unavailable and this project is designed to be a sequel, the game follows Frank Drebin, Jr., son of the clueless Police Squad hero Lt. Frank Drebin, Sr. Because times have changed, Frank, Jr. isn’t part of the Police Squad, but rather the International Crime Unit Police. However, Frank, Jr. exhibits the same dim-witted and tactless personality as his father.

Help Frank, Jr. in his attempts to solve dozens of cases through point and tap adventure gameplay. You’ll get the chance to discover collectibles, plus upgrade Frank’s apartment and wardrobe. Of course, there will also be plenty of hilarious dialog and scenes to hold your attention.

While still focusing on being a parody of crime dramas, The Naked Gun: I.C.U.P. adds even more pop culture humor by including references to modern video games, such as Angry Birds. In fact, you can see such references and more in the game trailer embedded below.

The Naked Gun: I.C.U.P. is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $4.99.
