Released early last month, Gun Runner has since run into a couple of updates, with the latter having taken effect just hours ago. And while the first update consisted mostly of bug fixes, the second one has proved a more significant upgrade to Man Up Time’s endless runner slash shooter.
Gun Runner has you taking on the role of a man on the run with a gun. But it’s not because you’re trying to evade capture. It’s because you want to rescue your brother from a possible alien abduction in the jungles of South America. The year, by the way, is 1986, right around the time Gun Runner’s most influential forebear, Contra, rose in popularity.
Gun Runner’s most recent update is all about delivering the gun-slinging goods. It adds more guns to unlock along your journey through the jungles, including a Super Shotgun and a Plasma Pistol. To get ahold of these and other weapons, you’ll be needing some coins. Good thing coins in the game are no longer as scarce as hen’s teeth. On the contrary, coin patterns and their frequency along the way have been significantly augmented. In addition, killing bad guys now leave coins behind and destroying dropships, well, drops even more coins for you to collect.
The update also brings such power-ups as coin doublers and speed boosters. And outside the game itself, the update introduces the use of SessionM for its achievements and rewards program.
Still boasting a cool combination of old-school pixels and chiptunes, Gun Runner is available in the App Store as a free universal app. Man Up Time describes the game’s latest version in the following manner, caps and all: “MAJOR UPDATE! MAJOR CARNAGE! MAJOR AWESOME!” You don’t say!
