Social Ticketing App Picket Gets Rid Of Picket Fences Around Live Events

May 22, 2012
There are already loads of location-based apps that let you broadcast which venue you're in for a concert or a sporting event. But what of an app that lets you tag your exact seating spot? Enter "the world's first social ticketing network," Picket. Picket is a new iPhone app that makes attending and engaging in major live events even more social. The app lets you share interesting content at events while enjoying less expensive ticketing options. Through Picket's Instagram-like interface, you can tag photos with your exact seat number, thereby giving others an impression of your live view. Further, the app, in partnership with event organizers and venue owners, gets to offer ticket discounts as incentive for its frequent use. You can also "fan" your favorite venues, musicians, teams, and other users so as to automatically receive content from them. And if you feel like chatting up other users and attendees in real-time, you can do so with the app's private messaging feature. "Sharing your experience from live events is something we all love doing," says Picket founder James Haas. "Picket aggregates the content that is usually spread across multiple social networks, and turns it into something that’s useful for fans, venues and friends. It’s simple: you share, you get rewarded. Additionally, it encourages fans to attend more live events and helps venues sell more tickets. And in an era where the music and events industry is struggling, having an app that’s venue, artist, and team friendly is very valuable." An alumni of the StartUp Chile initiative, Picket is available now in the App Store for free. Do you see yourself picking up Picket for your next live event?
