Flick Through Your Movie Wish List With Flickd Movies For iPhone

While Movies by Flixster rules the box office chart for movie apps in the App Store, it still lacks some features that most film junkies are likely to find quite useful. One such feature is the ability to notify you when a movie you're looking forward to seeing is already out in theaters. Another is the ability to inform you of your favorite actor's newest projects. If you're looking for an app that is capable of doing both, you're in luck. Released just yesterday, Flickd Movies has both of these features, and then some.
Taking advantage of Netflix's comprehensive database, Flickd Movies lets you browse through titles and specify which movies you'd like to keep track of. If, for example, you've just been wowed by the trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises," you can set up the app to notify you when the movie finally hits cinemas. The notification can even extend to the movie's availability in disc formats and on Netflix Instant, with the additional option to automatically add it to your Netflix queue. And as mentioned, it also supports tracking the upcoming filmography of directors as well as actors. Designed for iPhone and iPod touch, Flickd Movies is available now in the App Store for $2.99. Note that some users of the app have reported recurrent crashing mostly on older generations of said iOS devices. But an update that resolves this issue is, to use a common movie industry expression, coming soon.
