Honey Tribe Posts New Ashley Ao Trailer, Opens Up The Project To Feedback And More

June 20, 2012
Unveiled in February, Ashley Ao is an upcoming sci-fi and action adventure game created in part by Honey Tribe Studios. With development still in progress, Honey Tribe has released an updated gameplay teaser trailer, plus asks for input and funding support from fans. The story takes place at a time when planetary terraforming is huge business. Ashley Ao is one of the skillful hired by the dominant species to uphold the colonization contracts. During one particular assignment on a planet in the final stages of colonization, things have gone horribly wrong. It will become a mission of uncovering secrets and surviving the horrors within. Combining both runner and platformer gameplay into anime influenced arcade graphics and music, Ashley Ao, the game, hopes to offer variety, excitement, and a feeling of nostalgia. Both runner and free movement boss battles provide button smashing fighting controls with attack combos, although, runner mode also offers power-ups, such as Hyper-Boost. While containing some of the boss battle samples shown in the original trailer, this third preview video showcases the different running environments and combo attacks to better represent all of the content planned for inclusion.

In addition, Ryan, the primary artist of the project, and Shaz, game design and programming at Honey Tribe Studios, also posted an updated "development report." In the video, the two go over project background, status, intent, influences, and a sales pitch.

The main portion of the sales pitch is additional funding through Indiegogo, a project funding platform like Kickstarter. In fact, Indiegogo campaigns can offer the same rewards system to fans who pledge certain amounts. In this case, one of the underlying motivations, i.e., reward, is to participate in the beta testing phase on iOS, then have a chance to suggest changes. Essentially, it's a claim that you can mold the game to your own creativity and interests. For those wondering beforehand, this privilege will cost you $77, though you do get other exclusive items. If all goes as planned, Ashley Ao is scheduled for launch on iOS, OS X, and Android in autumn, otherwise known as fall, 2012. As always, we'll pass on new information as it's released.
