Dubbed nearly unanimously as an IFTTT for iPhone upon its launch a couple of months ago, Triggers has just gotten its first ever update. And the update essentially makes it an IFTTT for iPad as well.
That’s right, the previously iPhone-only app is now compatible with iPad. What’s more, the new universal version comes with HD graphics designed for the third-generation iPad’s screen.
Apart from the enhanced compatibility and Retina-optimized assets, the app remains pretty much the same as far as its functionality is concerned.
As its name suggest, Triggers is an app that lets you trigger certain results based on certain stimuli. Both results and stimuli are, of course, bound by the controls of your iPhone or iPad.

A few examples of Triggers in action are shown in the app’s promo video above. Through sound detection, Triggers can alert you that your toast is ready via email. And sensing a person’s proximity, it can alert you that an intruder or perhaps just a visitor is within your premises.
Triggers uses the microphone to detect sound, the proximity sensor to detect movement, the accelerometer to detect changes in motion, and the camera to detect brightness.
As for the possible outputs, Triggers can cause your device to beep, vibrate, activate the flashlight, or send you an email, among others.
Triggers for iPhone, and now for iPad as well, is available in the App Store for $3.99.
I imagine the “trigger-happy” Amazing Alex would have a blast with this app.
