While it was a blast looking exclusively at iPhone 5 cases the
previous two weeks, its back to the general iOS accessory market. Let's get started.
DODOcase Durables
DODOcase has made its name with a distinctive line of iPhone and iPad cases that are designed to look like a real book. But the manufacturer is branching out with its new Durables line of sleeves for the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air.
Probably the most interesting is the pictured $49.95 iPhone wallet. Made of a sage wax duck canvas exterior and orange-poppy cotton interior, the wallet has a leather hand grip and two pockets for credit cards and cash. There is a version for both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S.
The $69.95 iPad sleeve is Smart Cover compatible and has the same beautiful looking canvas exterior and orange interior. The MacBook Air version is $79.95.
All three can be ordered directly through
DODOcase’s site.
I’ve previously reviewed the updated
DODOcase for the new iPad and was really pleased with its quality and craftsmanship. The sleeves definitely look like a good value as well.
Compact USB Surge Protector
Electrical spikes and surges can definitely play havoc with expensive iOS devices. And Satechi’s Compact USB Surge Protector allows users to protect their devices while on the go. Along with a grounded electrical outlet, the protector has a 1 amp USB port to charge a wide variety of other electronic devices.
An LED light on the top of the protector shows green when the device is providing surge protection. When the protection circuitry has been fully consumed, the light will no longer illuminate.
The protector is $9.99 and
available at Amazon.
Transformative
Taking its name from the unique design, the Transformative Bluetooth HiFi System from DBEST is now available in the United States. Definitely the most interesting feature of the speaker is the ability to transform into dozens of different shapes to compliment the user's mood and environment.
With two precision-engineered loudspeakers, the system also features a microSD slot, a built-in microphone for conference calls, and an auxiliary line-in port. An OLED display shows caller ID and track information while the built-in rechargeable battery can last for up to 50 hours of music playback.
The system can be purchased on
Amazon for $232.74.
ShockDrop
Well, we can’t exactly go a week without featuring an iPhone 5 case. The ShockDrop from Hard Candy Cases is designed to be a rugged option with a clever design. The case has a raised texture to provide a sure grip and a built-in semi-rigid screen protector.
The case has 10mm of protection on the four corners of the case but slims down to a svelte 3.5mm of overall body shock protection. All ports are protected with rip-proof covers.
Available in two different color combinations,
the case is $39.95 and can be ordered directly through the company’s site now.
WorkMate
And since I’m a rugged case junkie, here’s another inexpensive option. The WorkMate combines a heavy-duty shell and impact-resistant interior. It is available in blue and green and can be purchased on Cygnett’s site
for $24.99 now.
We’ve previously reviewed some of
Cygnett’s cases, included the WorkMate Pro for the iPhone 4/4S, and were generally pleased with the protection provided.
