HARMAN Becomes First Vendor To Offer Speaker Docks For Lightning Devices

November 15, 2012
HARMAN has announced the imminent arrival of two new Lightning docks for the iPhone 5. The JBL OnBeat Micro and JBL OnBeat Venue LT launch ahead of Black Friday, which is Friday, Nov. 23. These docks appear to be the first that make use of Apple’s new Lightning connector. The $99 JBL OnBeat Micro is a compact speaker dock for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPod nano. It includes JBL full-range transducers, and a fully digital signal path with digital signal processing. By contrast, the $199 JBL OnBeat Venue LT works with the iPad mini, iPad with Retina display, and iPhone 5. It includes a hidden Lightning dock connector, and HARMAN’s exclusive TrueStream Bluetooth technology that can connect to up to eight devices. Additionally, the Venue LT includes two full-range transducers, two tweeters, slipstream port technology for great-sounding bass with low distortion, and user-friendly EQ settings. Both models will soon be available through select retailers and online at JBL.com. In recent days, Belkin and Scosche have also made Lightning accessory announcements. Lightning is the new connector that comes with the iPhone 5, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, fifth-generation iPod touch, and seventh-generation iPod nano.
