Temple Run 2, the sequel to the endless runner that has launched a thousand endless runners (and still counting), is out now.

This morning, we told you about the initial availability of the surprise new game in New Zealand, where the App Store sun first rises.

Now, Temple Run 2 is already available in the U.S. App Store and elsewhere.

As you can see in the gameplay video below, Temple Run 2 adds welcome variety to the world of the original game.

It features beautiful new graphics and gorgeous new environments.

The running paths are now set around what appears to be a floating temple. Also, the paths are noticeably curvy — a refreshing departure from the original Temple Run‘s at times boringly straight paths.

Temple Run 2 also features new obstacles, new power-ups, new achievements, and special powers for each character.

What’s more, the new game has apparently combined the group of demon monkeys in the original game into one supersize primate.

I don’t know about you, but that’s reason enough for me to stop playing Subway Surfers (my favorite endless runner) for a while and try Temple Run 2.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.2 or later, Temple Run 2 is available now in the App Store for free.
