Dropbox For iOS Gets New PDF Viewer, Push Notification Support And More

February 15, 2013
Dropbox for iOS has just received a new update. The update delivers not one, not two, but three notable improvements to the official iOS client of the popular cloud storage service. The first major update since the app's 2.0 redesign in mid-December last year, this update brings Dropbox for iOS to version 2.1. Most notably, it brings a new built-in viewer for PDF files. Before the update, the app's PDF viewer mainly offered a full-page scrolling affair. Now, it also provides a thumbnail index view of the pages of the open PDF file. Just tap the grid button to go to the index view. Moreover, the new PDF viewer provides a couple of new buttons for searching through the open document and for viewing the same's table of contents. These two new buttons are added alongside the three already existing ones for sharing, for starring, and for printing and opening in other apps. In addition to the new PDF viewer, push notification support for when another Dropbox user shares a folder with you is included in the app's latest update. The ability to sort files by date modified is also introduced in Dropbox 2.1. Just tap the sorting button beside the search bar in the app's folder view to choose between sorting by name ("A - Z") and sorting by date modified ("Newest - Oldest"). Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Dropbox 2.1 is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
