Watch As The mentalKase Protects An iPhone From A 6,000-Foot Drop

February 22, 2013
While its sometimes hard to wade through all the lofty claims made by Kickstarter projects, the creators of the mentalKase have a new video to show first-hand how protective their iPhone case really is. In the new video, an iPhone protected by the case is dropped by a skydiver from both 6,000 and 3,000 feet. During both drops, the handsets reach terminal velocity, but come away without a scratch. Here’s the complete video that shows both the skydiver and the harrowing iPhone video. Click here if you can’t see it. Along with the case made of durable, impact-resistant, and anti-microbial foam rubber, the system also comes with a foam base to stow your iPhone face-in or face-out, depending on what the activity is. With six days to go in the project, the company has raised $8,217 out of its $50,000 goal. For a $45 pledge, you can snag a mentalKase for the iPhone 4/4S with an estimated delivery date sometime next month. An iPhone 5 case will set you back a $50 pledge, and you’ll have to wait until April for an estimated delivery. Even though I can’t say I ever plan on skydiving, it’s nice to know that my iPhone could withstand such extreme impacts when protected by the mentalKase. Count me in as a backer.
