Liberation Maiden was originally released on Nintendo 3DS in Japan, bundled in the Guild01 video game compilation. It was later made available in Western territories on the Nintendo eShop game. And now, it’s been ported to iOS and made available in the App Store.

Being essentially a port, Liberation Maiden for iOS carries pretty much the same graphics and gameplay as its source material.

Of course, also intact in the new iOS edition is the original game’s premise:

100 years in the future, players take the role of Shoko Ozora, a high school student who steps into the role of President of New Japan after her father’s assassination. With her country all but taken by fierce invaders wielding advanced weaponry, Shoko rides out on her Liberator, Kamui, to free her people and restore the once beautiful nation! Her heroic battle for independence and “liberation” is about to begin!

Featuring Game Center integration and intuitive controls, Liberation Maiden for iOS offers action-packed shoot-em-up (or in this case, shoot-em-down) gameplay coupled with gorgeous graphics.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Liberation Maiden is available now in the App Store for $4.99.
