The Newly Updated Partly Cloudy Is Fully Informative

March 16, 2013
Looking for today's forecast? Here goes: it's going to get dark and snowy. Well, at least it's going to be in the recently updated weather app Partly Cloudy. Partly Cloudy, which, as noted by my colleague Christine noted, "comes with a unique visual infographic perspective that hasn’t been done before," now comes with a new dark theme. And like any other aspect of the app, the new dark theme aka night mode is a beauty. As pointed out by Partly Cloudy developer Raureif, "The dark background helps the infographic temperature ring to really stand out – the perfect companion for warm spring nights. Definitely the most stunning way to display weather yet." You can activate the new dark theme by going to the app's settings section and purchasing it for $0.99. Partly Cloudy has also been updated with an alternative weather data source, namely, Open Weather Maps. Most notably, Open Weather Maps displays snowfall in white directly on the app's signature clock face. You can enable Open Weather Maps also by going to the app's setting section and choosing it instead of the default source, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. The app has also been updated with the following miscellaneous improvements:
  • even more hand-crafted weather icons
  • many bug fixes & polished details
  • more reliable sunrise/sunset data for everywhere in the world
  • gorgeous new Add Location dialog
  • even more optimizations for 4-inch devices
  • Japanese localization
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, Partly Cloudy is available in the App Store for $0.99. For other apps of Partly Cloudy's sort, check out our Best iPhone Weather Apps AppGuide. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
