The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday.

Universal:

Gramatica by Think Tap Work ($0.99, 2.3 MB): This Instagram companion app allows you to explore the photo-based social network with greater efficiency and enjoyment. Beyond the easy on the eyes black background and expanded implementation of the optional swipe control, the user interface provides quick global access to both the feed and gallery-style views when using the app on an iPhone or iPod touch. For iPad, the UI is strictly large previews in gallery-style view alongside a clean toolbar. In addition to the standard hashtag and username search, the app offers bookmarks called Lists and a handy filtering system, which offers quick and simple hiding or showing of specific user and tagged photos from your personal feed. Gramatica is for viewing and interacting only, but does include direct launching of the official Instagram app for capturing and uploading.

Star Wars Pinball by ZEN Studios Ltd. ($1.99, 38.2 MB): Use the force and nothing will be able to stop you in this Star Wars-themed Pinball challenge. Feel the warmth of nostalgia as you whack control consoles, deflect the ball off of unforgettable characters, and get distracted by light sabers as you fight for the dark or light side. The game features local single and multiplayer modes, great 3-D and 2-D graphics, close angled and classic top-down camera views, numerous quotes straight from the movies, Game Center leaderboards and achievements, player ranking system, and one table: Episode V. Two additional tables, The Clone Wars and Boba Fett, can be unlocked for $1.99 each.

Word Soup by Fuzzy Bug Interactive ($1.99, 21.8 MB): If you're looking for a new word game, then this should be the next tasty treat for your mind. The enticing characteristics consist of three very enjoyable play modes and an extra strategy aspect, the ability to send letters left and right using tilt control. A Relaxed Game has no guidelines except to create valid words, whereas a Timed Games restricts play to three minutes, and a Brain Game is all about skill in creating the longest words possible through a survival-type of play. Scores and statistics, such as longest word length, are saved locally and posted to the Game Center leaderboards to reveal how well you stack up against others.

iPad:

The Battle For Hill 218 by Chad Ellis ($2.99, 46.6 MB): In this card-based war strategy game, each player strives to eliminate the enemy forces and take control of the hill. Success will not be easy as you're only provided a limited number of soldiers and weaponry that must stick together. Therefore utilize resources wisely against opposing units to overcome the different strengths and weaknesses. The game allows competing against the AI or a friend. Multiplayer matches are played online through Game Center or with another iDevice via Bluetooth.
