The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday.

Universal:

Kaboom – App Timer by Rahul Deshpande (Free, 2.0 MB): Like a splash to the face, this app helps anyone snap out of those unproductive and unhealthy multiple hour obsessed gaming or online socializing sessions. The idea is to force a resting period after a pre-determined playtime. After starting the countdown, you leave the app and allow it to work in the background. When playtime is over, an endless barrage of notification pop-ups appear that render the device inoperable until the system is deactivated or the rest period is completed. If you’re a parent utilizing the app to regulate a child’s iOS device usage, there’s an option to require a passcode. Of course, the concept isn’t bulletproof as savvy users can kill the background process or restart the iDevice to disable the app, however, it’s still a handy tool.

LudoPlus3D by Ayotunde Obasanya ($0.99, 58.0 MB): Enjoy playing the classic board game by your lonesome or against up to three others via Game Center with this somewhat quirky digital recreation. Even though the interactive portion of play is shown in an easy to see top-down view, which can be zoomed, dice rolls and other aspects are shown through 3-D animations. In fact, there are hand drawn faces for the playing pieces and different expressions as they move, plus three different surroundings. An important note: The game does not offer auto-saving, therefore, exiting the app will reset all progress and begin at the main menu.
