App Store Hits 50 Billion: Someone Just Won A $10,000 Gift Card

We just hit 50 billion app downloads. Thank you. It couldn't have happened without you. #50BillionApps tw.appstore.com/hgE — App Store(@AppStore) May 15, 2013Confetti! Streamers! Applause! The 50 billionth app was just downloaded this evening … but we don’t know who the lucky winner is quite yet. Whoever that winner is, though, will receive a $10,000 App Store gift card and the next 50 people who downloaded an app will receive a $500 App Store gift card. Apple presented the top apps as it counted down that 50 billion and even presented the countdown on the main site. The winners themselves haven't been announced yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as Apple announces them. Who knows, maybe it was Larry Page during today’s Google I/O.
