As much as we enjoy that perfectly chosen song clip or the Angry Bird’s theme music currently blasting when a call comes it, it does eventually become stale. Therefore, it’s time to change things up, and maybe even semi-regularly.
Using Ringtonium to create new ring, message, mail, and other alert tones is simple and straightforward. After choosing a song or recording a fresh audio clip, such as yourself performing a movie quote reenactment, select the tone type and you’ll be automatically setup for editing.
At the top is a zoomable waveform readout, just perform a pinch or expand gesture with two fingers to get a closer look, that already has the appropriate cropping tool length enabled. Below are the playback controls and effects adjustments, such as fade, distortion, and echo.
Once the tone is exactly what you want, head to the third tab along the bottom to save your creation for export. Now, either go and create the next tone, which is very efficient if you’re hoping to change the entire audio theme, or begin the final stage, transferring. Yes, unfortunately, the entire process can’t be done entirely on your iDevice.
The final stage consists of two transfers. The initial step involves copying the tones from Ringtonium’s storage bin to iTunes using file sharing, then you copy the tones back to your iDevice using the standard iTunes sync so that they’re accessible by iOS. As a friendly reminder, iDevice management access is near the top-right of the window in iTunes 11 versus on the left side in previous versions.
