KakaoTalk Messenger Updated With UI Improvements For Photos, Emoticons And More

May 13, 2013
KakaoTalk Messenger, the popular messaging and VoIP app developed by Seoul-based Kakao Corp., has just received another significant update. In the main, the latest update to KakaoTalk delivers a number of UI improvements. For starters, an in-app notification bar has been added to display a new message while the app is running. Note, though, that this new feature works only if the Preview alert for new messages is enabled in the app's settings. A new bar that displays the profile images of invitees to a chat room has also been added in the friend selection screen. The update also brings a couple of UI improvements for sending photos. One, the menu has been changed to "Send photos" and "Send a video," whether you intend to send just one photo or multiple photos. And two, if you do choose to send multiple photos, they are now sent in the order that they are selected. Furthermore, the update adds several improvements involving emoticons. First, a basic emoticon is now displayed in a much larger size when it's sent by itself. Second, premium emoticons or stickers sent by your chat partner can now be purchased by tapping them and selecting "Purchase" in the contextual menu. And third, you can now change the order of emoticons and stickers right after they're installed. Of course, the new KakaoTalk update also includes bug fixes and performance enhancements. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch, the new version of KakaoTalk Messenger is available now in the App Store for free. Note that owing to a change in Apple's policies, you may be asked to re-verify the phone number you've been using for KakaoTalk after updating the app. Rest assured that your KakaoTalk data will remain safe even if you go through the verification process again.
