The Vudu Player For iOS Goes Offline, But For A Very Good Reason

May 20, 2013
Vudu Player, the iOS app for the movie and television streaming service owned by Wal-Mart, is out with a new update and it is a good one. Vudu Player 2.0 includes the ability to download videos for offline use, plus other new features. First launched for iPad only in August 2011, the free app is now universal. It offers content purchased directly by users on the Vudu.com online store. In addition to offering the ability to download files for offline use, Vudu Player 2.0 includes:
  • Closed Captioning for the iPhone is now supported. (Closed captioning is already supported for iPad).
  • General bug fixes have been applied.
I've been using Vudu for many years, and find it to be one of the best ways to find newly released streaming video content for rental and purchase. Not only is the Vudu catalog huge, but the service is also available on multiple platforms, which I find important. Including iOS, Vudu is also available on Roku and Blu-ray players, gaming units, among other platforms. The Vudu Player app is available for download here.
