Fast-Paced Word Game Letter Rush Gains Turn-Based Game Center Multiplayer Mode

June 1, 2013
Letter Rush has just gained support for turn-based multiplayer gameplay. But that doesn't mean that you no longer have to rush in order to play and perform admirably in the game. Released last March by Proletariat Inc., a studio made up of former Zynga employees, Letter Rush is so named because it's a fast-paced word game. In the game, you have to rush to spell words as they pass across the screen. If you're not quick enough in tapping on or swiping across letters to form the required words, you're liable to end the game with a less than stellar score. Can you spell "boohoo"? In addition to its single-player setup, Letter Rush has been offering cooperative multiplayer and head-to-head multiplayer modes since launch:
  • Cooperative Multiplayer – When one set of fingers just isn’t enough, team up with a friend to rule the leaderboards together in all your 20-fingered glory!
  • Head-to-head Multiplayer – Settle disputes the wordy way and go head-to-head versus a friend in a battle to the (word) death! There’s no powerups and no pausing, just you, your friend, and whole bunch of letters and words.
If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Now, there's a new asynchronous multiplayer mode in Letter Rush. This new mode lets you and a Game Center friend take turns in playing the same series of words for each of the three rounds in a match. Of course, whoever ends up with the higher score wins the match. But unlike the existing head-to-head multiplayer mode, Letter Rush's turn-based multiplayer mode lets you use power-ups and collect gems to help you get more points. This new mode is now playable in the new version of Letter Rush, which is available now in the App Store for free. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. Letter Rush has also been updated with a revised tutorial, a new battery-saving function, and a new background, along with the obligatory bug fixes and performance optimizations.
