RunKeeper Gains New Social Features Plus Run Ranking And Comparison Functionality

June 12, 2013
RunKeeper has just run into another major update, which brings a revamped social experience and support for run ranking and comparison. With this update, you can now follow your friends' activities and progress right within the popular workout tracking app. You can also comment and like your friends' activities to motivate them toward their fitness goals. As well, you can check out your friends' activity stats, photos, and maps. The latest version of RunKeeper also allows you to see how any run stacks up against similar workouts on your activity summary. It also enables you to compare the pace and elevation charts between any two activities. Note, though, that RunKeeper's run ranking and comparison functionality requires an elite subscription, which is available via in-app purchase for $4.99 per month or $19.99 per year. An elite subscription also entitles you to such premium features as live broadcasting, advanced reports, and lifetime insights. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, RunKeeper may be downloaded in the App Store for free. Last month, the app received two major updates. One brought support for the Pebble smartwatch, while the other brought an overhauled historical activity experience and an improved goals and personal bests experience.
