Hangouts, the official standalone iOS app of the Google+ feature of the same name, now lets you join Hangouts On Air.

Hangouts On Air are live broadcasts streamed publicly on Google+. And now, you can join any Hangouts On Air that are of interest to you via the newly updated Hangouts app.

Also including bug fixes and performance improvements, the new version of Hangouts is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later.

Hangouts was launched by Google during the company’s I/O conference last May as an app independent of the official Google+ app, which later removed support for its baked-in Hangouts feature.

Late last month, Hangouts received its first update, which added support for sending and clicking links, inviting friends to Hangouts via SMS, and in-app sounds for received messages.
