AT&T’s No Contract Prepaid Brand Aio Wireless To Go Nationwide In September

August 30, 2013
AT&T’s Aio Wireless is going nationwide in mid-September. The no-contract prepaid brand was launched earlier this year in Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Since then, the brand has expanded to 11 southern U.S. cities. Aio Wireless offers three service plans that range from $40 to $70 a month. According to Jennifer Van Buskirk, president of Aio Wireless:
We invite customers across the country to switch to Aio and experience our first class service with no annual contracts. We want to make it easy for consumers almost anywhere in the US to get great value in their wireless service, with the network coverage and experience they deserve, and devices they can be proud to own.
T-Mobile is one company that isn’t thrilled to see Aio Wireless go nationwide. The No. 4 carrier in the U.S. believes that the magenta logo used by Aio Wireless too closely matches its own. As a result, it alleges trademark infringement and unfair business practices. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how successful Aio Wireless becomes as it goes national. We’re guessing that Apple’s upcoming launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will play a role in this.
