Mailbox Updated With Cloud Search, Account Signatures And Chrome Integration

August 29, 2013
A new major update has just been delivered to Mailbox. Most importantly, the latest update to the popular gesture-based email app adds support for cloud search. With this new feature, you can now search across all messages in your Gmail accounts. That's as opposed to just being able to search across messages that are saved locally on your iDevice — which could be quite a bummer when what you're looking for comes from way, way back. The new update also adds a couple of options to the app's settings. First, Mailbox now lets you set a different email signature for each of your connected accounts. Just go to the Signatures section in the app's settings, disable "Same for all accounts," and customize the signatures for your accounts independently. And second, Mailbox now allows you to set Chrome as your default browser for opening links, instead of Safari. Also including some bug fixes and performance improvements, the new version of Mailbox is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. Released last February, Mailbox was acquired by Dropbox in March. As a result of the acquisition, Mailbox was one of the first apps to integrate Dropbox's newly launched APIs last month. With the new APIs, the ability to add email attachments directly from Dropbox was added to Mailbox. In addition, earlier this month, Dropbox began offering users an additional 1GB of free storage space simply for linking the cloud storage service with Mailbox. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
