George R. R. Martin's A World Of Ice And Fire Expands With Brand New Interactive Maps

September 21, 2013
George R. R. Martin's A World of Ice and Fire has just received another major update. Released in November last year, George R. R. Martin's A World of Ice and Fire is the official guide app of George's R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of epic of fantasy novels. This series is, of course, the basis of the HBO TV series "Game of Thrones." You know, the series whose infamous "Red Wedding" episode is perhaps surpassed in intensity only by last Sunday's "Breaking Bad" episode titled "Ozymandias." Anyway, as mentioned, the app has just received another major update. This update is the second major update to arrive for the app. The first one arrived back in March and added new profiles, new illustrations, and other enhancements. This time, the second major update to George R. R. Martin's A World of Ice and Fire adds brand new maps. Featuring better zooming, these maps are interactive versions of the highly detailed maps created by illustrator Jonathan Roberts for the official "The Lands Of Ice and Fire" map collection, which is available only in print. These include:
  • The official Known World complete map of all known lands from Westeros to the Eastern Lands (available in the A Game of Thrones InfoPack)
  • Brand new maps for King’s Landing and Central Essos
  • Revised maps for Beyond the Wall and the Free Cities, plus a combined Westeros map to replace the previous North and South Maps
  • The ability to toggle map points on and off
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, the new version of George R. R. Martin's A World of Ice and Fire is available now in the App Store for free. Note that the initial free download comes with the map for Westeros only, in addition to the profiles of the eight POV characters and select places. All of the other maps come with the A Game of Thrones InfoPack, which is available via a $1.99 in-app purchase. If you have already purchased the A Game of Thrones InfoPack, you will automatically receive the new maps with this new update. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
