Following Security Controversy, QuizUp Gets Updated With Privacy Mode
QuizUp, the popular iOS game billed as "the biggest trivia game in the world," has just received another notable update. Released just over a month ago, QuizUp has already become one of the most played trivia games on iOS, with more than 4 million players around the world. But amid its popularity, QuizUp is not without its own share of controversy. Several weeks after its launch, it was found to be rather lax in its handling of players' personal information. Fortunately, the security issues pointed out in the game were duly addressed through backend improvements and presumably through its previous update as well. And now, QuizUp has been updated with further improvements concerning player privacy. "We care about your privacy as much as you do," the QuizUp team notes, "so this update is focused on giving you better control over who can interact with you while you QuizUp." When enabled, Privacy Mode requires that you accept other players as friends first before they can challenge you, chat with you, or view your profile. Moreover, if you've connected QuizUp to your Facebook account, the update adds a new setting to toggle auto-adding of Facebook friends. The new version of QuizUp also features the ability to delete individual chat messages and conversations, as well as the ability to report inappropriate content in the discussions. Also including bug fixes and other stability improvements, the new version of QuizUp is available now in the App Store for free. The game is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later. For more information on QuizUp, check out our original review of the game here on AppAdvice.
