Released early last month, Meltdown has just been hit with its first major update.
Meltdown is essentially a tactical arcade shooter game. In the game, you play as Zed, a former Marine working along on a private mining station in one of Pluto’s moons. But by some unfortunate A.I.-related incident, Zed gets trapped in the station. And so begins his fight to survive using his special abilities and even more special weapons.
Meltdown includes the following features:
- 30 Random Generated Levels
- 10 Ranged weapons upgradable
- 5 Melee weapons to cut down enemies
- Online Cross-Platform Co-Op Multiplayer up to 4 Players
- 3 Specializations (Soldier/Engineer/Medic)

As mentioned, Meltdown has just received its first major update. And as it happens, the update brings a special Santa outfit for Zed, which is teased in the game’s holiday-themed app icon. It also brings a new prestige system, a new wave attack mission, multiplayer tweaks, and support for iCloud saves.
Furthermore, the update introduces gamepad menu navigation and button reconfiguration. It also adds new toggle options for voice and aim assistance.
The new version of Meltdown is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $0.99 download. Also just optimized to work better on older devices, the game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
For more information on Meltdown, check out my colleague Christine’s original review of the game here on AppAdvice, which concludes, “If you enjoy arcade shooter games that are definitely a challenge, then I recommend checking this game out.”
