If you're new to origami crafting, you'll want to check out the basics section, which will explain all of the symbols and folds. The app also includes a gallery of folded flowers.

Air Pipes - Bagpipes for iPhone ($1.99 → Free, 30.7 MB): With Air Pipes, you can learn to play the bagpipes right on your iPhone. Just blow into your microphone to put some air into your bag. Then place your fingers over the buttons to create tunes. It includes 20 songs to play, and allows you to compete against your friends via Game Center. You can also customize the look of your pipes, adjust the volume of the drone and chanter, set them to auto-blow, and download a free set of scottish small pipes.

Talking Santa Carl ($0.99 → Free, 23.7 MB): Carl has put on his Santa costume and is ready to spread some holiday cheer in this entertainment app. Just like the original Talking Carl, you’re able to poke, pinch, tickle, flip, and spin him. You’re also able to speak into your iDevice’s microphone to have him repeat what you say. But this more festive version of Carl has a few additional tricks up his sleeve. He’s also able to pose for Christmas and New Years cards and send them out via email or Facebook, and he can help your child put together a wish list.

Impossible Dodge - Bad Red Balls ($0.99 → Free, 7.2 MB): An avoidance game that’s not quite impossible, but it sure is difficult! You’re put in control of little white square known as DodgeMan. As the balls fall from the top of the screen, you must quickly slide left and right to avoid them. If you get hit by a ball, it’s not the end of the world, you’ll just lose some of your life power. Lose too much and it’s game over. Power-ups will also fall at random, which can be collected by sliding under them. The game includes two modes, and leaderboards via Game Center.

LostWinds ($3.99 → Free, 84.2 MB): Unleash the powers of Enril the Wind Spirit to help a young boy named Toku save the enchanted world of Mistralis in this gorgeous platform game. You're able to direct Toku around Mistralis by tapping where you want him to go. Perform gestures to unleash different wind powers to reach new areas, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies. The game includes beautiful environments with special areas to discover, unlockable characters, the ability to take snapshots within the game, and achievements via Game Center.

The Elements: A Visual Exploration ($13.99 → Free, 1.7 GB): Visually explore the periodic table with this fantastic reference app. Based on the internationally best-selling hardcover edition of The Elements, this highly interactive reference app allows you to view and learn about 500 objects. Upon launch you’re presented with an animated periodic table. Tap on any element to view detailed information pulled from the always reliable Wolfram|Alpha. You’re also able to spin the objects that represent each element, and zoom in on them to get a more detailed look. It’s a lot of fun just to explore, so have at it!

Try to get them to land on their matching flag while also collecting stars on your way down to score the most points. The game includes 24 levels.

Minti Kids Animals ($1.99 → Free, 77.2 MB): An educational app that will teach your kids about animals and the sounds they make. Your child will be presented with a randomly chosen animal. They must then slide the pieces into place to recreate it. A narrator will speak each animal’s name when it is chosen, and once the puzzle is complete your child will hear the animal’s sound.

The app is completely free of buttons, menus, and in-app purchases, so your young child can just mash away on the xylophone without any interruptions. There’s also crazy cast of characters that will bounce to the music. The environment is fully interactive, allowing your child to hunt down all kinds of silly animations.

As crackers go streaming across the screen, your child must grab the ones needed to complete the pattern. Once the pattern is complete, they will be asked to find the matching total from the number bubbles that will also go streaming across the screen. Some patterns will even have crackers with numbers, requiring your child to find their total value instead. The game includes 6,000 variations, 16 levels, and support for multiple player profiles.
