Unearth The Original Tomb Raider Game With Square Enix's Latest iOS Release

December 17, 2013
Lara Croft, everyone's favorite English archaeologist-adventuress immortalized on the silver screen by Angelina Jolie, has just landed on iOS with the release of Tomb Raider I in the App Store. That's right. The original Tomb Raider action adventure game is now available on iOS courtesy of Square Enix. Officially called Tomb Raider I (as though proudly proclaiming its primacy), the game is, of course, based on the first Tomb Raider game, which was released in 1996 for MS-DOS, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn:
Adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artefact known as the Scion. With her fearless acrobatic style she runs, jumps, swims and climbs her way towards the truth of its origin and powers - leaving only a trail of empty tombs and gun-cartridges in her wake. On this trail are breath-taking 3D worlds where exploration, puzzle and platform elements blend in a seamless real-time environment. A perfect chance for newcomers and diehards alike to jump back into the series' seminal single-player action.
According to Square Enix, Tomb Raider I features epic exploration of ancient locations, combat action involving lethal predators, and acrobatic gunplay enhanced with Lara Croft's trademark dual pistols. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Tomb Raider I is available now in the App Store for $0.99.
