Keep On Rollin' In The Sketch-Art Action Game Roll Back Home

March 20, 2014

Roll Back Home, a brand new “sketch-art” action game for iOS, has just launched on the App Store. You can pick up the rather unique title for $1.99 and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

In the new app, gamers must tilt their iOS device to control a hand-drawn ball as it moves through level after level. Along your route you’ll encounter “unique physics riddles” and you’ll even get to “ride a mine cart, swing big rams, roll on barrels, defy gravity, and more,” according to developer Dawn of Play.

Over in the app’s release notes, the developer continues:

Roll Back Home is a sketch-art action game, full of puzzles and adventure. Tilt to roll and jump with the lost ball through underground mazes full of mysterious riddles. Swing on large rams to smash walls, ride barrels to avoid being crushed and defy gravity, all to escape the dangers within the treacherous underground sewers.

Roll Back Home definitely looks like an interesting release, with the action of the game taking place entirely against the backdrop of a flip book. Content appears on-screen as if hand-drawn, and the effect (which you can see in more detail in the below trailer) is pretty impressive.

The International Mobile Game Awards (IMGA) 2014 even nominated Roll Back Home as one of this year’s “best upcoming games,” too.
