Medium For iOS Gets Supersized As It Goes Universal For iPad

May 23, 2014
The official iOS app of Medium, the idea- and story-driven publishing platform created by Twitter and Blogger developer Ev Williams, has just gone universal. Medium for iOS was released a couple of months ago, but as an app optimized for iPhone and iPod touch only. Now, the app has been optimized for iPad and iPad mini as well. As before, though, Medium for iOS remains read-only, i.e., it supports reading content posted on Medium only, without the ability to publish content to the platform. It also continues to offer the following key features:
  • A beautiful, dynamic interface guides you through thousands of stories from a refreshingly divergent sampling of writers, from world-famous authors to first-time, first-hand contributors.
  • Stories are grouped into collections based on common themes, such as “This Happened To Me,” “Better Humans,” and “We Live In The Future.”
  • Sign in with your Twitter account, then swipe through your personalized Reading List, custom-tailored to your interests based on past reading, recommendations, and favorite authors.
  • Bookmark, recommend, and share your favorite stories.
For more information, check out our original review of the app here on AppAdvice. In addition to universal support, the latest update to Medium lets you follow your friends and favorite authors directly and allows you to add notes to your post recommendations. The universal version of Medium is available now in the App Store for free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later.
