Instead of forcing you to learn music theory and tablature, Coach Guitar is able to teach you how to play classic songs and recent hits through step-by-step video lessons with an animated fretboard.
Just tap on the song you want to learn how to play and you'll be provided with a series of high definition videos. Each video represents a part of the song. The videos themselves are broken up into three sections, allowing you to get a view of the pick hand, the fret hand, and the strings with a color-coded overlay. Each color in the overlay simply represents a finger, making it extremely easy to follow along.
Videos for more complex songs are broken down by chapter, and you're able to view the song with a backing track with voice. Videos can also be played back in slow motion or looped over and over. Tablature is available as well in case you want to use it.
Coach Guitar also includes left-handed or right-handed views, difficulty ratings, badges to unlock, and the ability to share your progress with friends via Facebook. Five lessons are included for free, but you can purchase additional lessons through the in-app store for $3.99 each.
