Nova Is A Bluetooth-Enabled, Wireless External Flash For Your iPhone

June 12, 2014
While Apple’s True Tone flash in the iPhone 5s definitely helps create nice images, some photographers might be looking for something even better. And the Nova definitely provides it. A wireless, off-camera flash, the project originally started out on Kickstarter. But now it is available to purchase by anyone on bitemyapple.co. Sporting 40 points of light diffused behind a white panel, the Nova surprisingly weighs only an ounce and is so slim that it can easily be stored in a credit card slot of a wallet for quick and on-the-go access. Pairing to an iPhone via Bluetooth, photographers will need to download the free NovaCamera app, available on the App Store now. With the app, users can select from one of three temperature-adjusted white lights. The soft light setting brightens the subject and environment while reducing shadows, and the warm light provides natural shots with flattering skin tones. Finally, brilliant light helps make a clear shot in even the darkest room. For even more creative shots, the advanced mode allows users to select a mix of cool to warm and dim to bright light. The Nova can be purchased now for $59.99 from Bite My Apple. It will begin to ship next week.
