SoundCloud Goes 3.0 As It Gets Yet Another iOS 7 Design Refresh For iPhone

June 26, 2014
SoundCloud, the official iOS app of the popular online audio distribution platform of the same name, has just been updated to version 3.0. SoundCloud 3.0 brings about a complete redesign of the app, albeit only for its iPhone and iPod touch edition. "For now, the iPad version is staying the same," the SoundCloud team notes. "iPad updates are being worked on for a future release." So, what's in store in SoundCloud 3.0 on iPhone and iPod touch? Well, it features an entirely new look for iOS 7 that improves on the app's first iOS 7 design refresh, which was unveiled through an "interim release" in November last year. It introduces a cleaner and simpler design that features streamlined controls and a so-called "one-thumb" interface that makes playing, pausing, skipping and exploring sounds on the go easier. SoundCloud 3.0 also lets you open a user's profile directly from a track or playlist. Moreover, it collects all of your likes and playlists in one place for easier access and playback. Note, though, that in this new version, the ability to record and upload audio to SoundCloud has been removed. Apparently, this is in accordance with SoundCloud's renewed focus on listening through mobile devices. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, SoundCloud 3.0 is available now on the App Store for free. This new version of the official iOS app of SoundCloud comes just days after it demanded the discontinuation of Soundflake. Soundflake was considered one of the best SoundCloud clients to hit iOS, but it was pulled from the App Store since it was deemed "too close" to SoundCloud's own app. For more recently update iOS music apps, see also: Crossfader 4.0 Features Nonstop Dance Party Remix Radio, Bandcamp Updates Official iOS App With Search And Other Improvements, and MixVibes' Cross DJ Now Lets You Mix Music Straight From SoundCloud.
