Starbucks featuring Lumosity Premium as first ever in-app purchase Pick of the Week

Starbucks featuring Lumosity Premium as first ever in-app purchase Pick of the Week

August 27, 2014

For the first time, Starbucks is offering an in-app purchase as its free Pick of the Week on its official app for iPhone and iPod touch. And it’s doing so in partnership with the popular brain training company Lumosity.

The official app of Lumosity for iPhone and iPod touch, Lumosity Mobile, is featured as Starbucks’ Pick of the Week in the U.S. Lumosity Mobile, though, is already free to download on the App Store. Starbucks’ promo, instead, offers a free one-month subscription of Lumosity Premium to each user who downloads Lumosity Mobile through the Starbucks app.

Otherwise available via in-app purchase for $14.99, Lumosity Premium unlocks the following additional features: a personalized brain training experience with daily workouts, performance tracking, comparisons to other users based on age percentiles, and more than 40 games on Lumosity’s Web version.

To get Lumosity Premium for free, redeem a code through the Pick of the Week section in the Starbucks app for iPhone and iPod touch to download Lumosity Mobile. Once activated, access to Lumosity Premium is automatically carried over to Lumosity’s other apps and platforms, including Lumosity for iPad and Lumosity’s versions on Android and the Web.

As mentioned, this offer marks another first for Starbucks’ Pick of the Week on iOS. In April last year, the program began providing freebies through the Starbucks app instead of Starbucks Pick of the Week cards. And early last January, Starbucks started allowing users to redeem offers by using the app to scan the codes on Pick of the Week cards.

Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, the Starbucks app is available on the App Store for free.
