Yahoo updates Mail, Screen and Tumblr apps for iOS with new features

Yahoo has just issued updates to three of its apps for iOS: Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Screen, and Tumblr.

For the official iOS app of its e-mail service, Yahoo has introduced a new feature that lets you minimize the compose window on iPad.

“When composing an email on iPad, tap or swipe down on the header bar to minimize the compose window,” Yahoo notes. “When you are ready to continue writing, just tap or swipe up.” If this new feature sounds and looks familiar, you might have learned that Apple is set to add a similar feature to its Mail app in iOS 8.

The new version of Yahoo Mail for iOS also includes bug fixes and performance improvements.

Yahoo has also released a small yet notable update to its video streaming app, Yahoo Screen. Essentially, the update lets you personalize the app’s football channel with your favorite teams and up-to-the-minute news using NFL Now. According to Yahoo, NFL Now integration is also coming to Yahoo Sports soon.

Aside from two of Yahoo’s namesake apps, the official iOS app of the popular Yahoo-owned social networking and blogging site Tumblr has been updated with notable improvements. According to the Tumblr team:

Now you can filter individual blogs by a tag. Go to a blog. Tap on a tag. You’ll see.

Also, blogs are looking nicer in the Explore tab. They use a blog’s appearance settings, with a header image and a background color and all that.
