Disney to release Bot Fight match-three RPG based on 'Big Hero 6'

October 18, 2014

Disney is getting ready to officially release a new free-to-play iOS game called Big Hero 6 Bot Fight.

As its name suggests, Big Hero 6 Bot Fight is a tie-in game to “Big Hero 6,” Disney’s upcoming 3-D computer-animated film inspired by the little-known Big Hero 6 superhero team appearing in Marvel Comics. As such, it features Hiro, Baymax, and the rest of the Big Hero 6 team in an adventure that pits them against the evil Yama.

As for its gameplay, Big Hero 6 Bot Fight is a match-three game with elements of role-playing strategy. According to Polygon:

… the game allows players to collect “hundreds of bots” and evolve them into higher forms. Players make matches in order to have their bots attack enemies. [Disney Interactive producer Scott] Humphries said the game will involve “strategy and depth” as players customize their team. Characters from the movie will also appear in-game.

The game is developed by Disney in collaboration with Gumi, the studio behind Genjuhime Monster Princess and Allen and the Dragon King.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Big Hero 6 Bot Fight is available now in soft-launch mode on the App Store in Australia and New Zealand. It’s set to be officially released worldwide on Nov. 3, a few days ahead of the U.S. premiere of “Big Hero 6″ on Nov. 7.
