Ticketmaster for iPhone and iPad now lets you purchase tickets using Apple Pay

December 22, 2014

The popular event ticketing company Ticketmaster has just begun supporting Apple Pay with the release of the latest update to its official iOS app.

On the heels of similar updates to the ticket search engine app SeatGeek and the airport lounge access app LoungeBuddy, Ticketmaster for iOS has been updated to enable users to buy tickets through the app using Touch ID on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3.

Ticketmaster touts its Apple Pay support in a press release (via MacRumors):

As the leader in ticketing innovations, Ticketmaster will offer Apple Pay to provide fans the best ticket buying experience. Checkout is simple and can happen with a single touch—there’s no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Ticketmaster fans will be able to make quick, convenient and secure purchases using Apple Pay with Touch ID, making shopping easier than ever.

Also including improved search and various performance improvements, the new version of Ticketmaster is available now on the App Store for free.

The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later. Note, though, that Apple Pay is available on iOS 8.1 or later.

Now that Ticketmaster is already Apple Pay-ready, an update to the official Apple Pay webpage is in order since it still says the service is “coming later this year” to Ticketmaster.

The webpage also says that Apple Pay is “coming later this year” to Walt Disney World. That’s true, but not for long. As reported earlier today, Disney’s flagship theme park is set to begin accepting Apple Pay on Wednesday, Dec. 24.
